Microsoft will ' turn off ' all support for Windows XP Service pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2000 on 13 July 2010.
According to Adrian Stone, Senior Security Program Manager Lead and Jerry Bryant, Group Manager, Response Communications Microsoft, the users should immediately upgrade the operating system to Windows 7 operating system or Service Pack 3. "We remind to all users of Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 that we would draw any support, and You should upgrade to security needs," said Bryant.
Microsoft will remove all the support, such as security updates, and assisted support.
As known, Microsoft will discontinue all predictable support for the entire OS to XP after April 2014. Moreover, at the end of 2012, suppliers of the other applications won't support XP.
"In many different polls and surveui Gartner, 80 percent of respondents reporting skipped updgrade to Windows Vista," said Michael Silver, Vice President of Gartner.
Silver noted that many companies have shown interest in moving to Windows 7, but not the least of which is still undecided about when and how fast to make the transition. The company, according to Garner must soon decide to remove Windows XP, and to decide whether to deploy Windows 7 for all PC or just for a new PC.
